Flowering in ‘Honeycrisp’ Apple Shows That Spurs Are Semiautonomous Organs

چکیده
Irregular flowering and biennial bearing are challenging in many apple ( Malus × domestica ) cultivars such as Honeycrisp. Apple is influenced by factors including crop load, fruit weight, seed number, bourse shoot length. However, it unclear how these exert their control. We investigated ‘Honeycrisp’ whether flower formation regulated locally within the spur or if under control of whole tree system. Treatments consisting 30 to 240 per with one two were applied, length, resulting measured. In 2013, was affected number tree, interaction, lower total loads, spurs had fewer flowers than those a single fruit. 2014, few formed regardless treatment. unaffected on single-fruited but inhibition correlated weight. fruit, inhibited higher numbers weight no effect flowering. Our data suggest that both within-spur characteristics contribute local formation. Therefore, can be considered semiautonomous organs because appears related depletion resources spurs, systematically tree. The main associated spur, spur. contrast previous reports, our show seeds do not play direct role regulating

MULTIPLICATION MODULES THAT ARE FINITELY GENERATED
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with identity and $M$ be a unitary $R$-module. An $R$-module $M$ is called a multiplication module if for every submodule $N$ of $M$ there exists an ideal $I$ of $R$ such that $N = IM$. It is shown that over a Noetherian domain $R$ with dim$(R)leq 1$, multiplication modules are precisely cyclic or isomorphic to an invertible ideal of $R$. Moreover, we give a charac...
متن کاملFlowering Time Gene Variation in Brassica Species Shows Evolutionary Principles
Flowering time genes have a strong influence on successful reproduction and life cycle adaptation. However, their regulation is highly complex and only well understood in diploid model systems. For crops with a polyploid background from the genus Brassica, data on flowering time gene variation are scarce, although indispensable for modern breeding techniques like marker-assisted breeding. We ha...
متن کاملShade effects on growth, flowering and fruit of apple
Light is a critical resource needed by plants for growth and reproduction. A major portion of the apple (Malus x domestica Borkh.) tree’s canopy is subjected to shade during most daylight hours each day and such shade may affect productivity. The current research determined effects of morning, afternoon, and all-day shading on processes that are significant to orchard productivity. In 1996 ‘Gin...
متن کاملP-13: Male Reproductive Organs Are at Riskfrom Environmental Hazards
Background: Male reproductive disorders that are of interest from an environmental point of view include sexual dysfunction, infertility, cryptorchidism, hypospadias and testicular cancer. Several reports suggest declining sperm counts and increase of these reproductive disorders in some areas during some time periods past 50 years. Materials and Methods: Except for testicular cancer this evide...
متن کاملProteolytic enzymes from generative organs of flowering plants (Angiospermae).
Pollen proteases were discovered over 100 years ago, whereas the enzymes from female tissues have been used since the Roman era in simple biotechnological processes. In the last decade a great progress has been made in studies on plant proteases, including those from the generative organs. This paper reviews reports published in the last decade, concerning purification, properties and localizat...
